Sun Pays 1 Billion Dollars to Acquire MySQL

It appears Sun is at is again with an announcement that they're in negotiations to buy out the entire MySQL team. Sun says they plan to keep the project open-source, and and are trying to integrate most of the MySQL into the new Sun team. Does this constitute a major threat to the open-source movement, or is Sun a good place for it to be?
